Project Description:
The Irvine Valley College Student Housing facility will be built on a previously undeveloped site on the southeast portion of campus near the Fine Arts Complex.
The building will be three stories tall and will encompass a mix of 320 student beds, along with a dedicated unit for a full-time, live-in Housing Director. The design includes traditional double and single rooms as well as studio units, with affordability tailored for low-income students.
The Student Housing building will address the rising cost of living while supporting student well-being and academic success. Services and features will include:
- Community Kitchens
- Basic Needs Pantry and Closet
- Mental Health Counseling Rooms
- Tutoring and Academic Support Spaces
- Veterans Resource Lounge 2
- 4/7 Quiet and Group Study Areas
Planning for the project is estimated to begin in Spring of 2027, and the Division of the State Architect (DSA) review is expected to be completed by Spring 2029. Construction is anticipated to begin in Fall of 2029, with project completion slated for Fall of 2031.
The project is designed with sustainability in mind and will include energy-efficient systems, on-site renewable energy, and features consistent with LEED equivalency.
