Project Start Date: Fall 2019
Construction Start Date: Fall 2024
Project Completion Date: Fall 2025
Project Description:
The Irvine Valley College Student Housing facility will be built on a previously undeveloped site on the southeast portion of campus near the Fine Arts Complex.
The Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure project at Irvine Valley College (IVC) expands sustainable transportation options by upgrading and installing charging capacity across campus. Through Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Charge Ready Program, the project delivers DSA-approved design and complete infrastructure installation at no cost to the college beyond purchasing the charging stations.
When complete, along with the (4) existing EV stations in Lot 8, IVC will have a total of 58 EV charging stations supporting up to 109 electric vehicles, located in key campus parking areas to serve students, staff, and visitors. Key project components include:
- Replacement of old transformers and installation of two new transformers for Parking Lots 5 and 8
- Replacement of the main electrical panel.
- Full energization and connection to the grid.
- Installation of 54 new EV chargers as part of the campus-wide charging network upgrade.
- Sustainable design to encourage the use of clean transportation options.
This expanded EV charging network directly supports IVC’s commitment to sustainability, reduces campus carbon emissions, and enhances accessibility for the growing number of electric vehicle drivers in the campus community.
