If you don’t meet the above prerequisites and/or prefer to assess your level on your own, please read the Guided Self-Placement (GSP) information below and choose the course that best fits your language level.
Once you have identified the language level course, complete the following three steps:
- Fill out the “Prerequisite-Placement Clearance” form, visit Admissions and Records Forms.
- Under the “I am requesting to clear a prerequisite” section, select the last option: “Alternative Evidence.”
- Selecting that prompt will open a “Support Documentation” section on the form. Attach a document stating that you’ve read the Guided Self-Placement (GSP) document for XX Language and you wish to take Language Level XX (i.e. ASL 22, French 3). Provide a reason for your selection (i.e. I took XX years of this language in high school, I lived in XX country for XX years, etc.).
If you have any questions on the steps above, please email the Assessment and Matriculation Office at ivcam@ivc.edu.
It is highly recommended that you also meet with an IVC counselor to make sure the courses you’re taking are on track for transfer, including the language course(s) you plan to take. To make an appointment, please visit Counseling Center Services
