Application and Registration
Where can I get help to apply to IVC?
We offer in-person support to complete the IVC application at our weekly Application Workshops, offered every Monday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Student Services Center (SSC) building, Room 240.

Do I still need to submit an application if I want to take Summer classes?
Yes. In most cases, students will have to submit a new application for the term they wish to take classes.
Can I complete the pre-registration steps in-person in one day?
Yes, by attending one Fast Friday, you can complete all of the pre-registration steps in one day. Fast Friday participants will complete Advisement, Orientation, develop a First Semester Plan, tour the campus, and have the opportunity to interact with current IVC students, faculty, and staff. When can I register for classes for Spring?
You can find your assigned registration date per term in MySite (Legacy or Banner) under Appointments. For the general Registration timeline for each semester, please visit this page on our website.

How do I make an appointment with a counselor?
Appointments can be made several ways with our Counseling Center, depending on what works best for the student. To make an appointment, please visit the Counseling Center page on our website.

Does IVC have a Welcome event for new students?
Laser Day, IVC's New Student Welcome, is designed to help new students learn about campus resources, academic programs, and success strategies. It is also an opportunity to connect with fellow incoming IVC students, and meet professors and staff members before the school year begins. How long does it take to receive my IVC account information after I submit the application?
After submitting your IVC application, you should start receiving your student account information as early as 24 hours.
Where can I find my IVC Student ID number?
Your IVC Student ID Number is a 7 digit number. It is emailed to you up to 48 hours after your application was processed. If you did not receive your IVC Student ID Number and need help in retrieving it, please contact IVC Admissions and Records.
I don't remember my IVC student ID or username. What do I do?
Your Student Number is a 7 digit number. It was emailed to you once your application was processed. The email was sent from admissions@ivc.edu. If you do not know your Student Number, contact Admissions and Records at 949-451-5220 to retrieve it.
When do I receive my IVC email address?
It takes up to 24 hours after you receive your 'Permit to Register' email from Admissions for your email account to be created. You will get a second email with your email account login once it has been created.
I don't know how to access my IVC email account. What do I do?
"Login to email login by visiting the IVC Homepage and clicking Login > Email. https://www.ivc.edu To log in to your college email account, enter your full college email address (ex. Jdoe23@ivc.edu). I don't remember my login pin for MySite (Legacy or Banner). What do I do?
- Your MySite (Legacy or Banner) pin is a 4 digit number that you selected at the time you applied.
- If you have forgotten your pin, you will need to confirm your security information to reset your PIN.
- Go to MySite (Legacy or Banner). Enter your login name or student ID.
- Click the Forgot Your PIN link and follow the steps to reset your PIN.
Am I still eligible for Freshman Advantage if I took dual enrollment courses?
Yes! You may qualify for Freshman Advantage as long as you are starting your first college semester at IVC.
When is the Freshman Advantage deadline?
The Freshman Advantage deadline for the 2024-2025 academic year is May 7, 2024. Students are encouraged to complete all the admissions and matriculation steps by May 7 to ensure priority registration for their first year at IVC.
When is the Financial Aid deadline?
The annual financial aid deadline for all California colleges in March 2. Students should complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) / CA Dream Act Application (CADAA) and other related materials as soon as possible each year, but no later than March 2 to ensure that they are awarded their financial aid in a timely manner. If you have any questions about your Financial Aid, please contact the IVC Financial Aid office.

How do I complete my matriculation steps?
- Students have the option to complete their matriculation steps online or in-person.
- To complete your matriculation steps online, login to your MySite (Legacy or Banner) account, click My Information --> Matriculation --> Complete Steps 1-3 If you prefer in-person support, we offer weekly workshops.

Can I only complete my matriculation steps online?

How do I track the completion of my matriculation steps?
You can track the completion of your Matriculation steps by checking your status on MySite (Legacy or Banner).
How do I check my matriculation status?
You can view your matriculation step completion progress at any time by logging in to MySite (Legacy or Banner) and going to My Information → Matriculation → Matriculation Status. All steps must be completed in order for the Matriculation Status to show as complete. You will not be able to register for classes unless all matriculation steps are completed.
How do I complete orientation?
- Orientation is offered both online and in-person.

- For online self-paced orientation, log in to MySite (Legacy or Banner), click on My Information→ Matriculation → Online Orientation.

How do I complete a first semester plan?
- The First Semester Plan is offered both online and in-person with the Advisement.
- To sign up for an in-person advisement with first semester plan help, please make an appointment online.
- You will need your IVC Student ID# to make an appointment.
- To complete your first semester plan online, log into MySite (Legacy or Banner), click on My Academic Plan --> Create New Plan
What is the highest level of Math and English I can be placed into?
The highest level of Math a student can place into is Math 3A (Calculus I). The highest level of English a student can place into is WR 1 (College Writing I)
How can I place into a higher level Math than what I was placed into?
You can meet with an IVC Counselor to review your placement and discuss the options available for higher placement. To make an appointment, please visit the Counseling Center page on our website.
Do we have to take a placement test for language other than English?
You may enroll in any level language course, however, we encourage you to look at our chart to see what level may be the best fit for you. You will need to fill out a form in order to be cleared to enroll in the course. https://www.ivc.edu/dept/llr/prereq
Clearances, Transcripts and Verifications
How do I clear a prerequisite for a class?
Students are responsible for ensuring they meet the course prerequisite, prior to being able to enroll in the desired course. To start the process of clearing a prerequisite, please complete the Prerequisite-Placement Clearance form.
How do I clear the Prerequisite for a Language course (ASL, CHI, FR, JA SPAN)?

Can I use in progress coursework to clear a prerequisite?
Courses in progress at another institution are not accepted to clear a prerequisite at IVC. Once a final grade is posted to your academic record, submit your request using the Prerequisite-Placement Clearance form.
Can I use transcripts from coursework done outside of the US to clear a prerequisite?
Students are responsible for ensuring they meet the course prerequisite, prior to being able to enroll in the desired course. Coursework done outside of the U.S. need to be reviewed to determine if the course satisfies the prerequisite. To start the process of clearing a prerequisite, please complete the Prerequisite-Placement Clearance form.
Do I need to submit my high school transcripts?
High school transcripts are highly encouraged to be submitted for placement consideration. Click here to review information regarding how to best provide a transcript to IVC.
How do I submit my transcripts?
A transcript is the official document that records the grade and units earned in courses. To submit your transcripts to IVC, please visit our Transcripts page on our website for more instructions.
When do I submit my transcripts?
Transcripts can be sent to IVC at any time, however, it would be best to make sure we have them before the registration period begins. For more information on providing your transcripts to IVC, please visit: https://www.ivc.edu/admissions/transcripts/provide
Where do I submit my AP scores?
Official AP score results should be sent from College Board directly to Irvine Valley College. Review the College Board website for further information on how to send your transcripts.
