Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs) are defined as the skills or abilities that a student will be able to demonstrate upon the completion of a program of study. There are multiple ways to assess PSLOs including:

  • Aggregation of course SLO data from multiple courses mapped to a PSLO
  • Analysis of course-embedded projects across multiple courses mapped to a PSLO
  • Capstone course projects
  • Student portfolios
  • Pre-/post-program exam questions or mock certification exam
  • Student exit surveys: perception/satisfaction
  • Analysis of program data: % students passing industry exam, attaining associate’s degree, gaining employment within X months of graduation
  • Interviews
  • Reflective writing

Each program must evaluate the best methods for assessing PSLOs given the courses offered by the program. These methods for assessing PSLOs and the results of PSLO assessment are reported during program review.
