Welcome to the Rising Scholars Program at Irvine Valley College, where we are dedicated to transforming the lives of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated students by providing equitable access to quality education and resources.
Guided by the core principles of both Irvine Valley College and the aspirations of the Rising Scholars Network, we are committed to creating a transformative academic environment that empowers justice-involved students to transcend barriers, actively engage in learning, and become empowered contributors to society.
IVC’s Basic Needs Center (BNC) serves as a hub for students experiencing housing insecurity, financial burdens, or any other challenges that hinder a student’s ability to fully engage in their educational journey. Our core services are grounded in the belief that before a student can be expected to succeed in an academic setting, it is imperative that their basic needs are not only met but prioritized.

EDsmart.org, a nationally recognized publisher of college resources and rankings, has released the 2024 edition of the Best Community Colleges in California, with Irvine Valley College (IVC) ranked third on the list.
For the second year in a row, Irvine Valley College (IVC) has been named one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program. On September 11, the IVC community gathered to honor those who died on that tragic day 22 years ago with a ceremony led by President John Hernandez. In recognition of this National Day of Service and Remembrance, the campus hosted a blood drive to support the UCI Medical Center.
In all, 78 donors provided 52 units of blood, which will impact up to 156 lives. These numbers are more than just statistics; they represent potential lives saved and improved. Thank you to everyone who participated!
