IVC Police Department LE CA Policy Manual
Chief’s Preface:
Irvine Valley College Police Department’s policies reflect not only the laws and regulations governing law enforcement but also the values and priorities of our campus community. They were created with input from a diverse range of stakeholders, including officers, community leaders, and legal experts, ensuring that they are responsive to the needs and concerns of those we serve here at IVC.
In maintaining this manual, we are guided by a commitment to continuous improvement. We recognize that the challenges facing law enforcement are ever evolving, and we must remain vigilant in our efforts to adapt and innovate. Through ongoing training, evaluation, and feedback, we strive to cultivate a culture of excellence and professionalism within our department.
Central to our mission is the principle of community-oriented policing. We believe that effective law enforcement requires collaboration and partnership with the campus community we serve. By building trust, fostering dialogue, and working together to address the root causes of crime and disorder, we can create a safer, more resilient campus community for all.
As you familiarize yourself with this manual, I encourage you to approach it not simply as a set of rules and regulations, but as a roadmap for building trust, promoting accountability, and upholding the values of our profession. Together, we can work towards a future where justice, equality, and respect for human dignity are not just ideals to strive for, but realities to be embraced.
Thank you for your dedication to our shared mission, and for your commitment to serving with honor and integrity.
