Woraporn Sae-Hia is an enterprising international student at IVC, who is charting her path toward a future in business. Hailing from Thailand, Woraporn's journey towards academic and professional excellence began at Darunsikkhalai, where she specialized in Engineering Science. With a steadfast focus on her academic pursuits, Woraporn has set her sights on UC Irvine for her four-year institution plans. Her ambition to become an entrepreneur drives her forward, fueled by a desire to innovate and create positive change in the business world.

IVC Student Madiha Pashtoon Driven to Pursue International Relations and Law

Madiha Pashtoon is a driven and accomplished student, who majored in Political Science at IVC, with a profound motivation rooted in her father's career as a diplomat. A graduate of University High School in Irvine, Madiha aspires to attend either the University of California, Irvine, or the University of California, Los Angeles, to further her education in pursuit of a career in international relations and law, with a focus on advocating for global minorities.

Linda-Rose Hembreiker, DMA

Linda-Rose Hembreiker fell in love with her instrument as a young child, seeing it in Disney’s The Aristocats and Fantasia. Described by the Denton Record-Chronicle as “evangelizing for the harp,” she is focused on sharing its beauty with audiences and students. Continuously working with composers and arrangers, she is passionate about creating new music for the harp.

IVC ASIVC President Diego Victoria Selects Yale for Transfer

Diego Victoria, President of the Associated Students of Irvine Valley College (ASIVC) and active member of the IVC’s Honors Program, has achieved a remarkable milestone in his academic journey. Recently named one of the 60 community college recipients of the esteemed Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, Diego stands out among 459 semifinalists selected from a competitive pool of over 1,700 applicants across 380 community colleges nationwide. 

IVC Student Sara Fox Working on Transformative Journey from Military Service to a Promising Career in Accounting and Real Estate

Sara Fox is a tenacious and determined student at IVC. A graduate of Parma High School in Parma, Idaho, Sara's academic pursuits have taken her through various paths, reflecting her resilience and adaptability. After initially focusing on wildlife resources in college, she answered the call to serve her country, joining the United States Air Force. Commissioned as an officer in May 2007, Sara served with distinction as an aircrew member specializing in navigation and electronic warfare aboard the RC-135 Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft. 

Embracing Growth: The Inspiring Journey of Yanzhen Zhang

Yanzhen Zhang's journey at IVC is a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the pursuit of lifelong learning. Hailing from Shantou Preschool Education Normal School in Guangdong, Yanzhen's decision to pursue Computer Science at IVC was driven by a deep-seated motivation to apply her newfound knowledge to quantitative psychology research. 

IVC Receives Affirmation of Accreditation

Irvine Valley College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Each college affiliated with ACCJC must undergo periodic evaluation of their programs and services through self-study and peer review in a seven-year cycle.

Flute

Sabrina Bounds is an active solo, chamber, and orchestral musician residing in Los Angeles, California. She holds a Master of Music and Graduate Certificate degree in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California (USC), Thornton School. Most recently, she performed as a fellow with the National Orchestral Institute 2019 season, and with the Texas Music Festival 2018 season. Sabrina also qualified for the New World Symphony substitute pool 2020-2021. 

In addition to sustaining a performance career, she is also a dedicated teacher. Sabrina is the Aural Skills and Chamber Music Coach at Diamond Bar High School’s Performing Arts Academy: Advanced Music Program. Her lecture classes include sight singing and melodic dictation instruction, supporting students in their academic study of music to achieve a wholesome musicianship. Sabrina also meets with students in their chamber groups, preparing them for a multitude of recitals put on by the program every semester. Additionally, Sabrina is the Flute Coach at South Pointe Middle School, teaching in an all-flute sectional setting. Outside the public-school appointments, Sabrina sustains a strong private flute studio. Her dedicated students hold chairs in the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, Pacific Youth Symphony and participate regularly in the All-Southern and All-State Honor Bands. 

An advocate for the arts through administrative leadership, Sabrina currently serves as Program Assistant to Jim Walker’s Beyond the Masterclass. She has also led as President of the Seattle Flute Society from 2015-2017, serving members from four states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana) and British Columbia, Canada. She represented one of the oldest flute societies in the United States for two seasons and led the Board of Directors in hosting guest artist recitals, masterclasses, flute competitions, and an annual flute festival. She also served as Outreach Education Coordinator for Philharmonia Northwest, a Seattle-based orchestra. From 2015-2017 she coordinated collaborative performances with local artists of varying art forms to encourage and educate a broader audience. For two seasons, she organized collaborative concerts with Fremont Dance, a local dance studio, hosted side-by-sides with Ballard High School, commissioned a brass quintet piece by Dan Caputo for state champion Mercer Island High School’s Brass Quintet, and more. 

A native of Seattle, Sabrina holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Washington, and both a Master of Music Degree and Graduate Certificate Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California.
