Sabrina Bounds is an active solo, chamber, and orchestral musician residing in Los Angeles, California. She holds a Master of Music and Graduate Certificate degree in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California (USC), Thornton School. Most recently, she performed as a fellow with the National Orchestral Institute 2019 season, and with the Texas Music Festival 2018 season. Sabrina also qualified for the New World Symphony substitute pool 2020-2021.
In addition to sustaining a performance career, she is also a dedicated teacher. Sabrina is the Aural Skills and Chamber Music Coach at Diamond Bar High School’s Performing Arts Academy: Advanced Music Program. Her lecture classes include sight singing and melodic dictation instruction, supporting students in their academic study of music to achieve a wholesome musicianship. Sabrina also meets with students in their chamber groups, preparing them for a multitude of recitals put on by the program every semester. Additionally, Sabrina is the Flute Coach at South Pointe Middle School, teaching in an all-flute sectional setting. Outside the public-school appointments, Sabrina sustains a strong private flute studio. Her dedicated students hold chairs in the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, Pacific Youth Symphony and participate regularly in the All-Southern and All-State Honor Bands.
An advocate for the arts through administrative leadership, Sabrina currently serves as Program Assistant to Jim Walker’s Beyond the Masterclass. She has also led as President of the Seattle Flute Society from 2015-2017, serving members from four states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana) and British Columbia, Canada. She represented one of the oldest flute societies in the United States for two seasons and led the Board of Directors in hosting guest artist recitals, masterclasses, flute competitions, and an annual flute festival. She also served as Outreach Education Coordinator for Philharmonia Northwest, a Seattle-based orchestra. From 2015-2017 she coordinated collaborative performances with local artists of varying art forms to encourage and educate a broader audience. For two seasons, she organized collaborative concerts with Fremont Dance, a local dance studio, hosted side-by-sides with Ballard High School, commissioned a brass quintet piece by Dan Caputo for state champion Mercer Island High School’s Brass Quintet, and more.
A native of Seattle, Sabrina holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Washington, and both a Master of Music Degree and Graduate Certificate Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California.
