Determined to build a life for her growing family, Kim embarked on a path that would begin with enrolling at IVC and then weave through time and opportunity to land her the career she feels she was always meant for.

At the start of the Spring '24 semester, Irvine Valley College (IVC) opened its Arts Village for classes. The complex spanning 62,471 gross square feet consolidates the School of the Arts into three main structures: Music/Dance, Visual Arts, and Fine Arts/Gallery. The new complex is located southwest of IVC’s Performing Arts Center and adjacent to the new Parking Lot 6. A noteworthy feature of the Arts Village is its architectural design, with all buildings achieving LEED Gold equivalency.

Prior to attending the conferences, IVC MUN students developed position papers on key issues such as the role of information technology in the illicit arms trade, supporting the worlds aquaculture, the impact of bullying and discrimination on youth, and addressing warming permafrost, amongst others. The IVC and Saddleback Honors Programs held their 12th Annual IVC/Saddleback Student Research Symposium on November 3. Students from both colleges convened at IVC to share 59 oral and poster presentations of their research on topics including inequitable access to public transportation among community college students, AI-driven prediction for early detection of diabetes, and college students’ use of disposable vapes.

Faculty Tutor Max Evans served as editor for the project, and former IVC professor Nathan Cayanan created the comic book illustrations and served as artistic lead.
