Arts Village Opens for Classes

At the start of the Spring '24 semester, Irvine Valley College (IVC) opened its Arts Village for classes. The complex spanning 62,471 gross square feet consolidates the School of the Arts into three main structures: Music/Dance, Visual Arts, and Fine Arts/Gallery. The new complex is located southwest of IVC’s Performing Arts Center and adjacent to the new Parking Lot 6. A noteworthy feature of the Arts Village is its architectural design, with all buildings achieving LEED Gold equivalency.

IVC Model United Nations Rings in Holiday Season with Clean Sweep of Awards

The Irvine Valley College Model United Nations (MUN) program attended two conferences this semester and won awards in each competition category for a total of 11 awards. Prior to attending the conferences, IVC MUN students developed position papers on key issues such as the role of information technology in the illicit arms trade, supporting the worlds aquaculture, the impact of bullying and discrimination on youth, and addressing warming permafrost, amongst others. 12th Annual IVC/Saddleback Student Research Symposium

The IVC and Saddleback Honors Programs held their 12th Annual IVC/Saddleback Student Research Symposium on November 3. Students from both colleges convened at IVC to share 59 oral and poster presentations of their research on topics including inequitable access to public transportation among community college students, AI-driven prediction for early detection of diabetes, and college students’ use of disposable vapes.

Veterans Services Center Unveils "Sound Off": Stories of Veterans and Military Dependents at IVC

The Veterans Services Center officially unveiled the "Sound Off" comic book during the Veterans Day event on November 9. Sound Off is a photo-story blog and comic book of veteran and military-connected students sharing stories from their life experiences. Faculty Tutor Max Evans served as editor for the project, and former IVC professor Nathan Cayanan created the comic book illustrations and served as artistic lead.

IVC Speech Wins 27 Awards Across Four Forensics Tournaments

IVC Speech kicked off their competitive season by earning 27 awards across four forensics tournaments. 

The team made its return to competition at the PSCFA Warm Up Invitational on September 30th and October 1st. Seventeen colleges and universities participated in the two-day event hosted by El  Camino College.
