ESL Tutoring

If you are enrolled in a current ESL class or are taking a college course and need English language assistance, you can receive individual one-on-one tutoring in the Student Success Center for free. Tutoring sessions are 30 minutes to 1 hour long (once a week). This is a great opportunity for you to get individual help with your homework and/or help with conversation, grammar, reading, and writing.

ESL Academic Skills Courses

ESL credit skills courses are a way for students to develop advanced academic English skills in specific skill areas. These courses are also appropriate for AESL students who want advanced English instruction. Students who want focused instruction in one of these skills should enroll in the skill course of their choice.

ESL Writing & Transfer Courses

Academic writing courses offered for credit by the ESL Department have been designed specifically for the multilingual student who needs support with academic English to succeed in college-level work and beyond. These students should take the ESL assessment to be placed in the appropriate ESL or English class. Students also have the option to take Writing 1 (Transfer Level English) as well.

Do you know that students who finish the ESL course sequence by passing ESL 90 do very well in WR 1? In fact, 93% of these students pass WR 1 with a 3.3 average GPA!
