Federal Direct Loans

Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are long-term, low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education.

To apply for a Federal Direct Loan, you must complete a Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please note that there are other required steps in this process other than completing a FAFSA form. (See the Federal Direct Loan Process below.)

Federal Pell Grant

​The Federal Pell Grant is available to assist students in meeting educational costs and does not have to be repaid. It is intended to assist those students with high financial need. Students can only receive a maximum of 6 years of full-time Pell Grant towards their undergraduate education, including study at a four-year college or university.​

Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG)

Formerly the Full-Time Student Success Grant and the California Community College Completion Grant, the Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) was created by California Senate Bill 85. The 2017 Budget Act Education Trailer Bill was signed by the Governor on June 27, 2017 and includes language initiating a new grant program for California Community College students as of Fall 2018.

Federal Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides those students with (federal) or without (institutional) financial need part-time work in order to earn money to help pay educational expenses. The amount of Work-Study award depends on the student's financial need (federal) and the availability of funds at Irvine Valley College. Pay rates may vary but will not be less than the current minimum wage.

Scholarship Program Requirements

Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

To apply for any scholarship, all four of the following criteria must apply to you:

  1. You must have 6 units completed before the start of the Spring 2025 semester.
  2. You must be enrolled during the spring semester.
  3. You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  4. College of Record in MySite must be Irvine Valley College.

To be considered for an ASIVC scholarship, you must have ASIVC ACCESS.

Scholarship Awards Celebration RSVP

RSVP submissions are now closed.

Deadline: Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

This RSVP is available to all qualifying students who have received an invitation to the Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony which will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 in the Hart Gymnasium.

Reception and check-in begins at 8 am with the program beginning promptly at 9 am.

Return of Title IV Funds

Federal aid recipients who withdraw or are dropped from all classes by the instructor are subject to new regulations regarding the return of Title IV funds. If you withdraw or are dropped from all your classes prior to completing more than 60% of the enrollment period, you are subject to these rules. Based on the date of the complete withdrawal or drop, the Financial Aid Office will determine the amount, if any, of "unearned" federal financial aid you have received.
