UC Irvine Alum Finds Second Life at IVC

Jeff Botwin has one piece of advice when it comes to achieving an overdue goal: “It’s never too late.” And while it wasn’t easy, the IVC alum’s decision to return to college proved well worth the investment.  

“Going back to school can be unnerving. It can feel like you're going backwards,” admits Botwin. “But for me, it was really enjoyable … it was something that made me happier since it was taking me in the right direction.”

IVC Receives $1.9 million AANAPISI Grant

IVC has been awarded an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) grant from the US Department of Education. The five-year, $1.9 million grant will allow IVC to implement the Equitable Learning Experience Valuing Achievement, Transfer, Empowering Asian American Pacific Islander (ELEVATE AAPI @IVC) program, building upon previous AANAPISI funding and outcomes. The project, which begins this month, will be led by Counselor Marianne Wolfe under the leadership of Dean of Liberal Arts Brooke Bui.

Project RAISE Continues to Inspire IVC Student Crystal Enciso

This summer, Irvine Valley College (IVC) mechanical engineering student Crystal Enciso was one of four IVC students to participate in Project RAISE (Regional Alliance in STEM Education), part of the Undergraduate Research Experience (URE) at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). IVC was one of ten area community colleges to have students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) conduct paid research at CSUF. This year’s cohort included 69 participants who each received a $5,000 stipend for their research.
