IVC’s Manager of Outreach Services Frank Rivera has been named the 2023 Manager of the Year! Frank has led the Outreach department since January 2021. He is recognized by his colleagues for demonstrating exemplary collaboration and innovation, including his leadership in the development of a new signature event, IVC’s Preview Night. This successful event, first held in 2022, was held again in March 2023 with over 1,830 attendees present. From this event, high school students and their families visited the campus and learned more about what IVC has to offer.
Known for leading by example, his department works in collaboration with high school partners to inform and facilitate the successful transition of incoming first year students. This individual brings 11 years of highly specialized community college outreach leadership experience to IVC including six years at Santiago Canyon College (SCC) where he served in three roles as the Student Services Coordinator, High School and Community Outreach Specialist, and Student Services Specialist for the High School and Community Outreach Department.
Respected for his keen knowledge in social media and insight for today’s trends, as well as student equity, this individual actively participates and shares his perspectives with peers in developing college outreach efforts and partnerships across IVC. Under his direction, the outreach and recruitment team has partnered with marketing to expand recruitment services to schools with students from minoritized communities, more specifically Hispanic/Latinx.
He holds a master’s degree in education with a concentration in higher education from California State University, Fullerton, and a bachelor’s degree in studio art from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
