Formerly known as "Certificate Track"

ELEVATE AAPI uplifts our IVC students to empower and successfully engage with their new college community while building awareness of the resources and opportunities available to successfully reach their goals. The Empower Certificate entails completion of a combination of academic supports, workshop attendance, and participation in other campus activities.

Guidelines

To receive the Empower Certificate and benefits, students must:

  • Complete/attend six (6) or more of the FREE activities from one of the certificate options below throughout the academic year.
  • Meet with an ELEVATE Counselor each semester.

Choose from three specialization tracks to develop and enhance your college success strategies while engaging with our faculty and peers. Earn a certificate of participation while you strengthen your network and net worth!

Leadership Track includes opportunities to:

  • Complete COMM 10, or BUS 125, or another leadership/management related course
  • Participate in Model United Nations
  • Attend an ELEVATE-sponsored workshop on leadership development
  • Attend a college sponsored workshop on leadership
  • Attend a conference on or related to leadership
  • Join Associate Student Government or a student organization and serve in a leadership position
  • Participate and help plan a sizeable college or community event (Example: IVC Research Conference)
  • Participate in a college workgroup or committee (Example: Associated Students of IVC or Guided Pathways)
  • Serve in a leadership capacity through work or volunteer service
  • Participate in a leadership related activity, program, or event not mentioned above.

Cultural Competency and Social Justice Track includes opportunities to:

  • Complete course in Ethnic Studies, social problems and/or diversity
  • Obtain an Associate’s Degree for Transfer in Social Justice
  • Attend a college sponsored workshop or training on diversity and/or equity
  • Attend a conference on diversity and/or equity
  • Participate in a college workgroup or committee related to diversity and/or student equity (Example: Student Equity and Success)
  • Participate in student clubs related to diversity and/or equity
  • Volunteer at an organizations or non-profit that is devoted to social justice or equity (Example: OC Human Relations Office)
  • Participate in college or community events or workshop related to diversity and/equity
  • Attend an ELEVATE-sponsored workshop on diversity, cultural competency, social justice
  • Participate in a diversity, cultural competency, and/or social justice related activity, program, or event not mentioned above.

21st Skills and Success Track includes opportunities to:

  • Complete a Counseling success course or Business success course
  • Attend a transfer workshop or related transfer success event
  • Attend a Career Center workshop or event such as resume writing, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Attend any college event or workshop related to skills building or student success
  • Attend an ELEVATE-sponsored related workshop focused onto skills building or student success
  • Attend financial aid or financial literacy workshop
  • Attend a scholarship workshop offered by the Transfer Center
  • Participate in a college workgroup or committee (Example: ASIVC Budget Committee)
  • Attend any professional network event or activity
  • Participate in skill building or success workshop, event or program not mentioned above.
