Starting college as an older student can be intimidating, to say the least. Many older students feel they've missed their chance, or that it's too late to change. But Julie Sandoval, a determined and ambitious 28-year-old, shattered these stereotypes when she embarked on her journey at Irvine Valley College (IVC).
We offer various learning events throughout the year. Topics may include conversation practice, American culture, and U.S. citizenship.
As the holiday season approaches, we find ourselves at the intersection of reflection and celebration. The Irvine Valley College Model United Nations (MUN) program attended two conferences this semester and won awards in each competition category for a total of 11 awards. Prior to attending the conferences, IVC MUN students developed position papers on key issues such as the role of information technology in the illicit arms trade, supporting the worlds aquaculture, the impact of bullying and discrimination on youth, and addressing warming permafrost, amongst others. At the conference, students simulated the workings of the actual U.N.

The Adult English as a Second Language (AESL) program is an intensive, non-credit English language program that provides non-native English speakers with English language instruction to meet their vocational, community, personal, and academic goals.
The Adult English as a Second Language (AESL) program offers three certificates of competency.
