Elizabeth Low-Atwater

Renowned for her musicality and warm sound, Bassoonist Elizabeth Low-Atwater is fully immersed in the Southern California music scene. She maintains an active freelance career as a member of the Mozart Classical Orchestra and performing with ensembles like the Long Beach Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, among many other regional groups. Elizabeth has also appeared as a guest soloist performing Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto with Symphony Irvine and the La Sierra Chamber Orchestra.

Kevin Jellison

Kevin Jellison has been a regular performer in a variety of professional projects ranging from blues, pop, rock, hard rock, jazz, country, and more. He has been a long-time collaborator with recording artist Bob Gentry (Blue Elan Records) as a guitarist, co-writer, and arranger, and has performed with Gentry as an opening act for Berlin, The Pretenders, Pat Benatar, The Bangles, Heart, Ringo Starr, and many more.

Lana Hur

Lana Hur is a renowned classical guitarist who started her musical journey at just six years old. Her talent quickly caught the public's eye when she began winning prestigious international awards, including the grand prize at the First National Youth Classical Guitar Competition in South Korea.

Victoria Lee

Oboist VICTORIA HIROMI DOO LEE takes music anywhere – from chamber groups at aquariums and art museums in California and touring as a soloist in Europe, to wind octets in Branson pubs and the Park Avenue Amory with the New York Philharmonic.

Matt Hare, DMA

Matt Hare is a double bassist, composer, and educator based in Southern California. Last season he performed a solo recital in Los Angeles featuring his own compositions written over the Pandemic. In the upcoming season he will premier his orchestration of Hayk Arsenyan's Stratum, a concertante for double bass and piano, with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia.

Tim Hall

Tim Hall has been teaching at Irvine Valley college since 2006. Tim is also the Director of Woodwind and Brass studies at Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music. Born and raised in Southern California, Tim is a free-lance musician who is both a regular in major local ensembles and a seasoned touring musician.

John Hallberg, DMA

John Hallberg (b. 1988) is an accomplished saxophone performer and educator based in Southern California. His career has taken him across the United States, Europe, and Asia, giving recitals and solo performances in venues such as Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, Segerstrom Concert Hall, Mozart Concert Hall of Zuhai, Zipper Concert Hall, Thayer Recital Hall at The Colburn School, and numerous university campuses worldwide. 

Mathieu Girardet

Mathieu Girardet serves as Director of the Instrumental Music Area at Irvine Valley College. A native of Montpellier, France, Mathieu is a versatile musician with experience as an educator, clarinetist, composer, and arranger.

Pioneer in Accounting Software Arena Paying it forward for IVC students

Mike Applegate was a pioneer in the accounting software arena back in the 1980's – and now he's paying it forward for Irvine Valley College (IVC) students. 

Applegate launched TimeValue Software in 1984, a time when the software industry was in its infancy.  Emerging as the industry leader in amortization software, the company’s first and flagship product – TValue – is now used by most of the top 100 accounting firms in the U.S.
