Earning a Degree or Certificate

Irvine Valley College has started an automatic degree/certificate awarding process. If you qualify for one or more degrees and/or certificates, you may receive a notification that you are being awarded with them. No application is necessary! You could be eligible for degrees or certificates in your primary program of study and/or additional programs that you qualify for.

Providing Transcripts to IVC

A transcript is the official document that records the grade and units earned in courses. Students are encouraged to submit their transcripts to IVC for evaluation if:

  1. You graduated from high school within the past year.
  2. If you think any of your high school courses or coursework completed at another college may have fulfilled prerequisites and would assist our counselors as they guide you to the courses appropriate for you to achieve your academic goals.

Mail — Transcripts should be mailed to:

Ordering Transcripts

Irvine Valley College has partnered with Parchment as the designated agent for processing and sending official transcripts on behalf of the college. You can order official transcripts anytime, 24 hours a day. Parchment has been granted the authority to deliver all electronic and paper (hard-copy) transcript requests on behalf of the college and will respond to any inquiries regarding these transactions. Electronic delivery is the recommended method.

Transcripts

The academic record for current student, former, and/or graduated students is called a transcript. An official transcript is a duly certified record of all work completed at Irvine Valley College.

Cross Enrollment

Irvine Valley College (IVC) students have the unique opportunity to attend California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) campuses while they are still at IVC.

The Office of Admissions and Records must clear you to participate, so when you are ready, fill out the Application for Cross Enrollment  Below are some specific details you need to be aware of when applying for this program.

Repeating Classes

The registration system will prevent you from repeating a class that is currently in progress, one in which you have received a passing grade, or if you have exceeded the repeat limit. A course may not be repeated for credit or for grade point average improvement if a grade of C or better has been earned. Any exception to this regulation must be approved by petition prior to registration. Courses in which you have previously earned a substandard grade (D, F, FW, NC, or NP) may be repeated unless otherwise indicated by course descriptions found in the current college catalog.

Withdrawal from Classes

Check the Class Schedule – Important Dates for the last day to withdraw from most classes without a withdrawal notation ("W"). Students who withdraw from a class after the last day to add/drop and before the last day to withdraw will have a withdrawal notation for that class on their academic record. Short courses must be dropped before 20% of the course has been completed to be eligible for a drop without "W." For some very short courses, 20% of the course may be the first day of class.
