The Power of Puente
Malerie Pattugalan knew she wanted to return to college but wasn’t sure how to navigate the responsibilities of a full-time job, the financial duties of living alone, and the additional pressure of new coursework requirements. But when her sister graduated from a local college, and her mother enrolled at Irvine Valley College soon after, Malerie was inspired to pursue her education and the Puente Program was there to support her along the way.
IVC Dual Enrollment Student Creates Top Trending Snapchat Filter
IVC dual enrollment student Rodrigo Marconell created a Snapchat Augmented Reality (AR) lens for the NexusEdge Snapchat Lens Studio program, which has received over 500,000 views. In less than a week's time, Marconell's "Killer Klown" lens has been shared more than 8,250 times on the social media platform.
Three IVC Students Selected as Finalists in Computer Game Development Competition
Three IVC Interactive Media Arts students were selected as finalists for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) GameSiG Showcase, which took place on Saturday, April 30. Student Alex Puh won 3rd place along with the Software Engineering and Intercollegiate Collaboration award. Wenjun Yang won Most Unique Game World.

Chemistry Department Safety Protocols
All Irvine Valley College (IVC) laboratory personnel who work with laboratory chemicals must know and follow the standard operating procedures outlined in this plan. All laboratory operations must be planned and executed in accordance with the standard operating procedures described in this plan. In addition, each laboratory worker is expected to practice safe personal chemical hygiene habits aimed at reducing exposures to potential hazards, to avoid potential accidents, and to ensure the health and safety of those employees working in the laboratories.

Astronomy
The curriculum in physical science includes courses in astronomy and physics. The curriculum is designed to attract and cultivate the student's imagination as to the origin, composition, and mechanics of the solar system; the movement of objects in relation with gravitational, magnetic, and electrical forces; the interaction between matter and energy; the behavior of light; and the physical characteristics of substances.
