Wenjun Yang: Kira Kira Game

Three IVC Interactive Media Arts students were selected as finalists for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) GameSiG Showcase, which took place on Saturday, April 30. Student Alex Puh won 3rd place along with the Software Engineering and Intercollegiate Collaboration award. Wenjun Yang won Most Unique Game World.

The showcase called for 30-50 student teams to submit a YouTube video promoting a game they developed. The videos were then individually reviewed by a group of industry and academic personnel. Games were ranked based on their perceptions of the gameplay experience as demonstrated by the video. Only the ten highest-ranking submissions were accepted for the final round of the competition. On the day of the event, judges watched the provided videos on a live stream, then asked questions of the teams via private messaging, reading the answers and discussing them on the stream for everyone to hear. Teams had five minutes to answer questions.
