IVC dual enrollment student Rodrigo Marconell created a Snapchat Augmented Reality (AR) lens for the NexusEdge Snapchat Lens Studio program, which has received over 500,000 views. In less than a week's time, Marconell's "Killer Klown" lens has been shared more than 8,250 times on the social media platform.
Marconell is a dually enrolled student at IVC and Northwood High School. Due to the success of his Snapchat lens, Marconell was invited to participate in the USA AR Lens Challenge where he developed more lenses under the guidance of professionals. During the USA AR Lens Challenge, he created beach-themed lenses, where he was able to learn and apply several new techniques and mechanics to his creations.
"This experience has been great", says Marconell. "I was not just able to learn at my own pace and do my own research, but I also had the help of professionals that could take a look at my lens and help me improve my creator skills."
As a dually enrolled student, Marconell took Spreadsheets 1 at IVC. In the next six months, he plans to enroll in writing, art, and statistics while attending high school. Marconell plans to graduate high school one year early, attend IVC for two years, and then transfer to a 4-year college. Looking back at the success of his first AR lens, Marconell shared, "It was incredibly rewarding and exciting to see the number of viewers increase by the hour and worldwide. After this experience, I am now more confident in embracing new opportunities and challenges."
