Quality education should not put you in the red. The cost of attending Irvine Valley College is very low compared to the private, UC, and CSU systems.
Kinesiology is the study of the human body as it relates to movement. Sports, recreation, medicine, health and nutrition are all founded on the fundamental principles discovered in the study of Kinesiology.
Kinesiology is an integrative discipline that focuses on the various components and processes of human movement related to physical activity and sport, incorporating the areas of human anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, biochemistry, biomechanics, psychology, history and sociology. Students then apply these skills and are introduced to topics related to exercise such as the physiology of the body, nutrition, injury prevention, and health enhancement. The program serves all students, regardless of age, fitness level, or previous experience. Activity classes are designed not only to provide for physiological and skills development but also to educate students about the principles involved in this diverse and useful area of study.
In consultation and cooperation with the Kinesiology programs of the California State Universities (CSUs), the AA-T in Kinesiology can be completed in four fulltime semesters. Students should work with an IVC Counselor on building their Individual Education Plan, but sample schedules can be found in the Kinesiology Major’s Handbook.
The AA-T in Kinesiology is among only 23 degrees at IVC that guarantee admission to the CSU system. In addition, IVC has a transfer agreement to the premier local private school program in the discipline at Chapman University, while the AA-T is also recognized by the rapidly growing program at Concordia University and is considered favorably in the application process at UC Irvine for those interested in their B.S. in Exercise Science.
