Articulation is the process that links the curriculum between community colleges and universities so that students can transfer from a community college to a university without experiencing a delay or duplication of coursework. Articulated courses at Irvine Valley College are those that are identified by a university as equivalent or comparable to courses taught on a university campus.
Completing an articulated course, for a specific major or for general education, enables students to satisfy a university admission and/or graduation requirement while at Irvine Valley College prior to transferring. Irvine Valley College has articulation agreements with the University of California (UC), the California State University (CSU), and many accredited private and out of state colleges.
Role of Articulation Officer
The Articulation Officer (AO) is the person responsible for facilitating articulation agreements between Irvine Valley College and other colleges and universities. The AO works with faculty in identifying courses that articulate to fulfill California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) general education pattern requirements, as well as campus-specific course-to-course articulations important for major preparation requirements. In addition, the AO facilitates agreements with other community colleges, private, and out-of-state colleges and universities. The AO is an advocate for the transfer student and seeks to ease the transfer process by providing up-to-date advisement on Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), CSU General Education Breadth, and Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT).
