Inspire 2035 is IVC’s bold roadmap for the future, bringing together our new strategic and facility plans into a shared vision for the decade ahead. More than a document, it embodies the voices, expertise, and dedication of our college community and captures what we strive to achieve together.
Throughout this academic year, we have actively engaged our campus community through presentations and conversations across shared governance councils and committees, including the Classified Senate, Academic Senate, and Student Government. This collaborative work has thoughtfully and courageously shaped our institutional values, vision, and mission.
IVC Inspire 2035 is grounded in a collective understanding of who we are, what drives us, and where we aspire to go. The working definitions that follow establish a common language to advise planning, decision‑making, and alignment across the college. United by our values, vision, and mission, we anchor our actions, affirm our purpose, and shape the future we are building together.
Values – How We Act
Our values describe the principles and behaviors that influence how we work, learn, and lead together. They define the culture we commit to, how we treat one another, make decisions, and serve students.
Vision – Where We Are Going
Our vision paints a picture of the future we aspire to create. It is aspirational and forward-looking, describing what success will look like when we fully live our mission.
Mission – Why We Exist
Our mission defines our core purpose: who we serve and how we fulfill that purpose every day. It describes what we do and for whom, grounding all decisions in student learning, equity, and community impact.
In a prior issue of Laser Focus I shared the institutional values that were adopted by College Council. In this issue, I’m pleased to present IVC’s new vision and mission, approved at the April 22, 2026, College Council meeting:

Mission
Student equity, inclusion, access, and success are at the core of Irvine Valley College. We educate, support, and empower our students through excellent and innovative learning experiences. Leading with integrity, we collaborate with care and cultivate a strong sense of belonging while responsibly stewarding our resources to meet the evolving needs of our community.
Together, our vision, values, and mission form a strategic framework that expresses our shared commitment to the future of Irvine Valley College. They guide our direction and call us to action, challenging us to align our daily work with our highest aspirations for student success, equity, and community impact. As we move forward, these statements will inform our priorities, inspire innovation, and strengthen the collective purpose as we galvanize our service to students and the communities we proudly serve.
