What is Accreditation?
Accreditation is a voluntary system of self regulation developed to evaluate overall educational quality and institutional effectiveness (The Commission’s complete Purpose Statement is available in Article I, section 2 of its Bylaws).

Irvine Valley College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Joseph Hewitt Memorial Scholarship
Joseph Hewitt, the younger and only brother of Professor Bill Hewitt, passed away on October 8, 2014 in Walla Walla, WA after an extended illness. Joe had been actively involved as a community college student, pursuing his degree in Business Administration. He went on to become a Department Manager at Macy's in Tri-Cities, WA. He is survived by his son Sy, his grandson Tanner, and his wife Phyllis Hewitt.
The Kirk C. Gorrie Memorial Scholarship
Longtime IVC colleague and friend Kirk C. Gorrie passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Kirk is survived by his wife Margaret Gorrie, son Brian Gorrie (age 22 and an IVC graduate now studying in England), daughter Michele Gorrie (a 17-year-old senior at Northwood), mother Trula Gorrie, and father Clayton Gorrie.
