First Semester Plan
After completing advisement and receiving your math and English/ESL placements, you will be ready to develop a First Semester Plan, which is a set of courses that should be taken in your first semester of college in order to reach your educational goals. First Semester Plans can be completed online or through an in-person advisement session with a counselor.
Orientation
Orientation will provide you with important information about English and math placement, terminology, policies, available services, and the college’s expectations of you as a student. Orientation can be completed online or through in-person group sessions.
During orientation, you can expect to learn about:
Guided Self Placement (GSP)
Once you complete the IVC application process (Step 1: Apply for Admission), you will receive an email with your IVC student ID number. Your student ID number, along with the PIN you created when you applied, will be your login credentials into MySite (Legacy or Banner), a website you will use frequently as an IVC student.
New IVC Student
New students must complete the steps below in order to become an IVC student and register for classes. There are four important steps. Completing these steps can take 3-4 weeks, so plan ahead.

IVC Hosts Orange County Philippine Independence Day Celebration
IVC hosted Orange County’s Philippine Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 17, commemorating the declaration of Philippine Independence from Spain in 1898. The event was organized by Filipino Influential Leaders and Mentors (FILAM), Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County (FACCOC), Filipino-American Lawyers of Orange County (FLOC), and IVC’s Equitable Learning Experience Valuing Achievement, Transfer and Empowering Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (ELEVATE AAPI).

When it comes to the county he has always called home, Mateo Sanchez is proud to be Orange through and through. But he always envisioned his future in a shade of blue.
“I wanted to go into law enforcement at a very young age,” reflects the Irvine Valley College student. “I knew after high school that was what I wanted to do.”
IVC Girls Who Code Team Wins 1st Place in College Loops Challenge
The IVC Girls Who Code Challenge Team competed in the Spring 2023 College Loops Challenge against several other chapters of Girls Who Code around the nation last month. The team of four won first place overall!
Interactive Media Arts Program Receives Commendation from City of Irvine
