AB86 Planning Grant Outcomes
California has the opportunity to rethink and redesign an educational system to establish linkages for students across the California Department of Education and the California Community College Chancellor’s Office adult education systems that provide adults with the academic and career skills needed to enhance student success. To that end, the Legislature and Governor have put in place two unprecedented indicators of California’s commitment to improve adult education.
Regional Consortium
The Consortia’s Guiding Principles:
- Establish and maintain effective communication among stakeholders (educational entities and students), ensure instructional integrity and seamless transitions between educational partners and support student success in achieving their individual goals.
- Provide opportunities for students to select their pathway and implement a framework that emphasizes student-centered learning.
- Establish activities that have practical, real world applications.

About Assembly Bill 104: Adult Education Block Grant Funding
South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) is the fiscal agent for Assembly Bill (AB) 104 Adult Education Block Grant Funding in a collaborative effort that brings together both Irvine Valley and Saddleback colleges and the five K-12 districts located within the SOCCCD boundary. These local consortia will focus on five program areas including:
