About the Early College Pathway at IVC
Early College Pathway Benefits
- Upon completion of the program, you will earn a high school diploma and an Intersegmental General Education Course (IGETC) Certification, which is 51 transferable credits to the UCs and CSUs
- Many students take additional elective courses to bring their unit total up to 60, allowing them to earn an AA degree from IVC
- Program completers participate in IVC commencement and many are accepted to four-year colleges, including UCs, CSUs, and colleges out of state

Early College Pathway at IVC
The Early College Pathway at IVC is a partnership that allows academically qualified students to dual enroll in classes at their local high school and IVC. Since its founding in 2007, the program has flourished, with more than 300 participants and 160 completers.

From Incarceration to Graduation: Clifford Haines' Remarkable Journey
Starting college behind bars is no one’s idea of a promising beginning, but for formerly incarcerated Clifford Haines, equal amounts grit and grace has led to completion of an associate’s degree at Irvine Valley College (IVC) (with one more on the way), plus a path toward a business degree at Cal State Long Beach.

English Professor Kurt Meyer Celebrated for 20 Years of Service as Phi Theta Kappa Chapter Advisor
Professor of English Kurt Meyer recently received a pin from the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honors Society acknowledging his 20 years of service as IVC’s PTK Chapter Advisor. IVC President John Hernandez and Dean of Liberal Arts Brooke Bui surprised Professor Meyer with the pin last month.

At the Fall President’s Opening Day, State of the College, I spoke about the importance of actively exploring the Future of Teaching and Learning. The future of teaching and learning is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the rapid advancements in generative AI. As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, its integration into education has the potential to reshape traditional models of instruction and create more personalized, adaptive, and engaging learning experiences.
Test Proctoring Policies and Procedures
- Submit your request at least 72 business hours in advance through the Test Proctoring Portal
- Schedule the exam on the day and time that has been agreed upon with your instructor. Instructor approval is required.
- Clarify any questions with your instructor prior to taking your test(s). Proctors cannot answer or clarify any questions regarding the test(s).
- Photo identification is required prior to taking your test(s).
- The testing center is an unscented and distraction reduced environment.
