IVC hosted a community holiday and networking event for Tech Coast Venture Network (TCVN) at the Performing Arts Center in December. TCVN, in collaboration with IVC's Entrepreneurship Department, has created a partnership to provide opportunities to IVC students through workshops, networking events, internships, and complimentary attendance to their monthly events.
The holiday event started with a student workshop where TCVN board member and serial entrepreneur, Michael Sawitz provided students with valuable tips on networking, public speaking, and how to pitch a business idea. The workshop was followed by a catered dinner and networking for business community partners, students, faculty, and staff.
IVC's Vice President for Instruction Rick Miranda attended along with Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Business Sciences Traci Fahimi as well as Professor of Business Management John Russo, who helped organize the event.
Guests of the event were asked to bring an unwrapped toy, which was donated to the Eli Home, a nonprofit organization that supports abused women and children. In all, the event collected close to 100 toys.
