As part of IVC's GAP4+1 Business Leader Speaker Series, Cybersecurity Specialist and author Dr. Travis Michael Hearne will give a talk at the IVC Performing Arts Center from 12:30 - 1:30 pm on Friday, May 5. Following his talk, Dr. Hearne will do a book signing from 1:30 - 2 pm. The event will benefit students in the Guaranteed Accounting Program (GAP4+1), a collaboration between IVC and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF).
Dr. Hearne is a nine-year combat Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, former Intelligence Officer working for the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Department of the Air Force, and is currently a cybersecurity specialist for Cisco and the founder of Titanium Leadership Consulting.
While on active duty, Hearne served as a Senior Intelligence Analyst with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion leading teams to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2008-2009, and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. From 2011–2016 he served as a Senior Intelligence Analyst at United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), leading teams focused on the analysis of advanced cyber and kinetic threats to the homeland from terrorist organizations, transnational criminal organization, and other state actors.
After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 2016, Hearne continued his service as a USNORTHCOM civilian, first as an intelligence officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency focusing on threats to the United States from terrorist groups, then as a counter-narcotics and counter-cartel specialist, and finally as the Chief Interagency and Operations Officer for USNORTHCOM analyzing cybersecurity threat information.
After leaving government service in 2020, Hearne joined Cisco as a cybersecurity specialist where he focuses on protecting complex network infrastructures through cloud-based cybersecurity software. Hearne is also the founder of Titanium Leadership Consulting where he works with executives and executive teams through leadership and organizational change challenges. As the author of “Hybrid: A Guide for Successfully Leading On-Site and Remote Teams”, he speaks around the country on how to successfully re-humanize a de-humanized work culture. Hearne earned his doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California where he gained an overwhelming respect and love for leadership. He believes that good leadership can literally save lives, even beyond the battlefield.

About GAP4+1:
Students are guaranteed a bachelor’s degree in four years by attending IVC for two years, then CSUF for two years. Students then have the option to attain their master’s degree in accountancy, accounting and finance, or tax in one additional year.
