Income Changes

We do not recommend that you quit your job unless you truly feel that you cannot work and go to college at the same time. Financial aid is meant to supplement, not supplant, a student's income. You may also be eligible for scholarships or a work-study job.

Ask us for a Special Circumstance - EFC/SAI Calculation Appeal (formerly an Income Reduction Appeal). Once it’s added to your Student Forms portal, you will be able to submit all required documents online at ivc.studentforms.com. Students may submit one Special Circumstance - EFC/SAI Calculation Appeal per academic year. Some examples of the types of documents you will be required to submit:

• Current tax returns and W2s
  • A student whose appeal is not approved on or before November 1 must wait to submit or resubmit documentation until they can include their tax return for the current year. For example, if you request an appeal on November 2, 2025, you will not be able to submit the appeal until your 2025 tax return is available.
• Latest pay stub from job or disability benefits
  • Unemployment letter (or letter of separation)
  • Employment verification letter
  • DD-214 if military discharge
• Proof of change in income

You may also be asked to submit additional verification documentation.
