Irvine Valley College was selected to participate in this statewide initiative created to establish a pipeline of diverse students so that the legal profession reflects the diverse population of California. The initiative is a collaboration between the California Community Colleges and the State Bar of California through California LAW, a nonprofit organization.
IVC is #1 in transfer in Orange County to the UC system and #1 in transfers in California. IVC has an American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal Studies program and an Administration of Justice program accredited by the California State Commission of Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.)
Interested students will be asked to apply to be part of the pathway. There are 7 required courses for any student interested in participating in the Pathway to Law School. These courses are designed to support skills needed for success in law. AP classes may satisfy this requirement. In addition, a student must achieve a cumulative minimum 3.0 GPA before graduation. However, special consideration can be given to students with extenuating circumstances. Students are required to meet with Professor June McLaughlin to review the program requirements and determine eligibility.
