Irvine Valley won another OEC title and its top players and coach were honored. Philip Neuman earned singles player of the year, Neuman and Steven Anderson were the top doubles team and Ross Duncan was coach of the year.
Irvine Valley, the defending 3C2A champion, begins the quest for another title Tuesday when the top-seeded in the South Lasers host No. 8 Santa Barbara City at 2 p.m. IVC finished the regular season with a record of 10-1 overall.
Irvine Valley defeats Fullerton, 5-3, in the final game of the three-game Orange Empire Conference set. IVC picks up its second win in OEC play and moves its record to 17-14 overall. Luke Acuna earns the win on the mound for IVC.
Irvine Valley plays one of its best matches of the year and defeats Grossmont in a conference contest, 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, at home on Wednesday night. The Lasers move their record to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in conference.
Irvine Valley jumps out to a 4-0 lead early and later ties the game at 7-7 in the top of the seventh inning, but Fullerton scores five runs in the bottom of the seventh and earns a 12-7 win. The two teams play again Friday at IVC.
Irvine Valley's women's flag football team, which was one of the first squads to start a program in the state in 2025, has now had its first signing to a four-year school. Sophomore Allison Faggella is off to the University of Redlands.
