Dear Colleagues:

The end of the spring semester provides us a time for reflection and renewal. I am truly grateful for the many ways our students, faculty, and staff rallied throughout this year. Central to our decision-making was always campus safety. Our district and IVC responded not once, but twice when the situation warranted due to variant surges. Together we found ways to implement new and evolving COVID-related strategies.

Looking back, we can all be proud of supporting or participating in many innovative reengagement tactics designed to connect as a campus community. Through strategic planning and our shared governance process, we found thoughtful ways to support one another with purpose and commitment to IVC’s core mission. Going forward, we still must keep our focus on addressing the ever-changing needs of students to meet them where they are for their in-person, hybrid or online learning and supportive services.

In just a few days, our campus will be coming together to celebrate two IVC time honored traditions – the scholarship ceremony and commencement. Over the last two years, our students were called upon to make many sacrifices including forgoing traditional in-person celebrations and significant rites of passage. Having these events return in-person serves as a reminder to us of the transformational journey our students have had while attending IVC.

In closing, you have worked tirelessly, teaching, and supporting students in and out of the classroom across multiple modalities. Your dedication, kindness, scholarship, and overall care for students is the hallmark of our campus.

Whether in-person or from afar, let’s all enjoy the vibrancy of all the wonderful end of year celebrations. They offer us an opportunity to renew our spirit and share the energy and enthusiasm of our students.

Best wishes for a safe and relaxing summer!

John
