Alina Kawai

Alina Kawai is a visual artist born in Hyōgo, Japan, and currently based in Los Angeles, California. She received her MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2021 and her BFA from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 2016. Her work explores color and shape to examine connections between personal identity and broader cultural experience, creating spaces for contemplation. Kawai’s paintings are held in private collections, as well as the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum and the Ke Kilohana Building in Honolulu.

Anela Ming-Yue Oh

Anela Ming-Yue Oh (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based on the Big Island of Hawai’i. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She uses materials that have a life of their own such as clay, paper, and fiber to feed her studio practice and create environments full of hope.

Dane Hiʻipoi Nakama

Dane Hiʻipoi Nakama (b. 1999, Honolulu, Hawai‘i) is a Japanese-Uchinanchu ceramicist, painter, and educator whose work bridges local aesthetics, folklore, and decolonial critique. Raised on O‘ahu and currently based on Tongva land, Nakama’s interdisciplinary practice is both highly referential and disarmingly tender—addressing settler colonialism, ancestral memory, and island identity through a visual lexicon that includes AstroTurf, li hing mui, jalousie windows, sand, seashells and clay geckos.

IVC CIM Cybersecurity Center

This Information Technology degree introduces computers, networking, and cybersecurity skills and prepares students to enter the workforce as an entry-level information communications technologies professional (Computer User Support Specialist or Computer Network Support Specialist). 

The program is designed to meet the needs of students who want to obtain entry level employment; to advance in their current positions; or to change careers.

IVC Named Great Colleges to Work For

For the fifth year in a row, Irvine Valley College (IVC) is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program. The results, released today at GreatCollegesList.com and via a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 171 colleges and universities. In all, 76 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.

IVC Awards CPA Review Courses to Outstanding Accounting Students

Irvine Valley College (IVC), through the IVC 30 to CPA Program and the IVC Foundation, has awarded three Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) review courses to outstanding accounting students, helping reduce financial barriers and support their progress toward professional certification. IVC Students Showcase Research at Cal State Fullerton Symposium

Twelve Irvine Valley College (IVC) students were among 64 students from nine community colleges who presented original research at the 13th Annual California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) Summer Research Symposium on August 6 at the Titan Student Union Pavilion. The annual symposium, co-hosted by CSUF’s Undergraduate Research Opportunity Center (UROC) and Project RAISE (Regional Alliance in STEM Education), brought together students to share their scholarly and creative work with faculty, peers and the broader academic community.
