The Computer Science Department conducts a program designed for students who are developing computer programming skills in preparation for transfer to a four-year college or university. The Computer Science Department also prepares students for self-education in this ever-developing field and fosters students' abilities to solve Computer Science problems.
The Computer Information Management (CIM) program encompasses a broad area of study, including computer operating systems, software applications, and networking and internetworking technologies. Courses are designed to prepare students at various levels of competence - from the novice to the expert for immediate employment, professional careers, and/or transfer.
Irvine Valley College Community Education department provides short-term, not–for-credit classes, workshops, career training programs and events designed for professional and/or personal development with special emphasis on inspiring a sense of wonder and imagination toward lifelong learning.
The Communication Studies Department provides students with lower division courses that meet the needs of university transfer students and/or students who earn an Associate of Arts degree in Communication Studies, as well as students who are interested in lifelong learning opportunities. Through the selection of lower division Communication Studies courses, students acquire an understanding of the process of communication regarding public communication, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, argumentation and debate, oral interpretation of literature, and small group communication. Since communication is without question the most important skill in the workforce the Department strives to make our communication competency development opportunities as broad as possible for every major.
