Transfer to the University of California (UC)
University of California (UC) is a university system made up of nine undergraduate campuses with an emphasis on developing research skills and preparing students to advance to graduate and professional education programs with course content mostly theoretical and analytical.
Transfer to the California State University (CSU)
The California State University (CSU) is made up of 23 undergraduate campuses with a focus on practical and professional training to prepare graduates to enter the job market. The curriculum includes some theory and research as well.
IMPORTANT: Starting Fall 2021, all NEW Irvine Valley College students transferring to a CSU campus will be required to complete a course in Ethnic Studies in Area F in order to receive full CSU GE certification.
Transfer to Private and Out-of-State
Every semester, IVC transfer students are accepted to a multitude of California private and out-of-state colleges and universities. Unlike for CSU and UC, there is no central location to find GPA, general education, major preparation, and other transfer requirements because each institution is independent. We suggest students visit the individual school websites to find the most accurate and up-to-date information. Below, you will find some helpful links for private and out-of-state transfer research.
