Receiving the I-20

Once you have been admitted to Irvine Valley College, you will be able to download your I-20 from the International Application Site. Your official acceptance email will provide you with download instructions.

Transfer students or students in the US can also pick up their I-20 at the International Student Office in CEC 7 or by email at your “@ivc.edu” email address. Please contact your advisor for this option.

Upcoming Events and Workshops

The International Student Program offers workshops and events to help our international students thrive in the US!  All workshops listed are offered on-line unless otherwise indicated.  All workshop times are listed in local California time PST (Pacific Time Zone UTC−08:00).

Please call 949-451-5414 or email iso@ivc.edu to sign up for any Workshops. Please include your name and student ID number.

Travel Preparation

I-20 Travel Signature

F-1 visa students will need a travel signature from the International Student Center on their I-20 to return to the U.S. from travel outside of the country. A signature on the I-20 is not needed for travel within the United States.

Travel signatures are only given to students who are maintaining their F-1 status; students who are out of status are not eligible for travel signatures.

English Proficiency Requirements

Students whose native language is not English must submit proof of English proficiency. IVC does not admit international students or issue the I-20 for ESL or AESL (English as a Second Language) study.

Students whose native language is English or who have had English as the language of instruction throughout high school do not need to submit English proficiency tests. (Official school documentation verifying English as the language of instruction is required).

Health Insurance

All Irvine Valley College international students must purchase the approved insurance plan through AcademicHealth Plans Services (SOCCCD Board Policy 5010)Other plans are not accepted. Health insurance must be purchased before registration is allowed.
