ELEVATE AAPI Mission Statement

As an AANAPISI (Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution) grant recipient, ELEVATE AAPI goal is to close the gaps in academic achievement and transfer among students at Irvine Valley College by focusing on subgroups that are historically underrepresented in higher education. Our integrated activities, pathway and services are designed to provide educational experiences that support and challenge our students.

IVC Names Rick Miranda as New Vice President for Instruction

Irvine Valley College (IVC) has named Rick Miranda as Vice President for Instruction. He will begin in his new role on July 11 pending board ratification. Rick replaces Dr. Chris McDonald who accepted the position of Vice-Chancellor of Educational and Technology Services for the South Orange County Community College District in March.

Self Esteem

Let me guess... the reason you picked up this handout probably has to do with your desire to improve your self-esteem. Good. You'd be amazed at how many students really think badly about themselves. Some are down on themselves all the time, while others think negatively only on occasion.

Depression

You know that these college years can be complicated and demanding. Deep down, you are not quite sure of who you are, what you want to be, or whether the choices you make from day to day are the best decisions.

Sometimes the many changes and pressures you are facing threaten to overwhelm you. So it isn't surprising that from time to time you or one of your friends feel "down" or discouraged.
