The English department offers a range of courses in academic writing, creative writing, and literature. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of reading and writing throughout its courses, reflecting the faculty's concern that students not divorce the study of language from the study of cultures nor lose sight of the uses or abuses of writing within a cultural context.

Engineering and Computer-Aided Drafting & Design

The Engineering & Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) & Design Program is primarily designed to prepare students for direct transfer into university engineering programs through a wide array of fully articulated core engineering courses. The program also prepares students for direct employment in the workforce through the development of technical skills in the fields of drafting, computer-aided modeling, engineering technology, & manufacturing.

Emeritus Institute

The Emeritus Institute reinforces the importance of lifelong learning by providing intellectual activity, critical thinking and creative expression for older adults. Courses are developed to stimulate participants' intellectual and personal growth and to benefit their daily lives - personally, socially, culturally, economically and environmentally.

Electronic Technology Department

The Electronic Technology Department offers a program that provides high quality instruction leading to a certificate of proficiency or achievement, an associate in science degree, and/or transfer to university programs in engineering technology. The program also prepares students for employment or advancement in the electronics and related industries.

Electrical Technology Department

The Electrical Technology Department conducts a program to equip students with the skills necessary for working in a rapidly changing electrical and solar technological field. Students learn to apply technology to the solution of specific problems, with an emphasis on wiring systems, solar systems and safety.

Economics Department

The department of economics offers courses that provide the lower-division requirements for students majoring in economics, business, computer science, and engineering, and also provide students majoring in other fields with an understanding of economic principles and a familiarity with the economic institutions that affect their lives.

Early College Pathway at Beckman High School

Dual enroll in classes at Beckman High School and IVC. Upon program completion, students earn a high school diploma & an IGETC Certification, which is 51 transferable credits to the UCs and CSUs.
