Student Code of Conduct

Irvine Valley College students must follow state and federal laws, the California Education Code, and the policies and procedures of the South Orange County Community College District. The District established the Student Code of Conduct to provide notice of the type of conduct that is expected of each student. Being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol or the existence of other mental impairment does not diminish or excuse a violation of the Code of Conduct.

Grievances

The District's grade grievance policy (AR- 5530) outlines the procedures for challenging grades given in any course of instruction offered in the District. Board policies are accessible online at the south Orange County Community College District website: www.socccd.edu

Complaint Procedures

Informal Procedures

The District strongly encourages students and staff who believe they are being harassed to file a complaint in a timely manner. Since failure to report harassment impedes the District’s ability to stop the behavior, the District strongly encourages that such complaints be made within 30 days of the alleged incident. Any complaint not involving employment may be made orally or in writing within one year of the date of the alleged discrimination or harassment.
