Dear IVC Community:
As we learn of the increasing violent acts in Iran – including at Sharif University and on high school campuses, we extend our support as this news can be upsetting and distressing, especially for those in the Irvine Valley College (IVC) community who have close ties with the country and Iranian community.
IVC unwaveringly supports the empowerment of women around the world to choose the way they wish to present themselves without fear of violence, imprisonment, persecution, or death.
We stand in solidarity with Iranian students, faculty, staff, alumni, and citizens, as well as the courageous women of Iran, and all those who seek to protect their human rights and freedoms against repression and discrimination.
We are here to support our community and acknowledge the trauma and distress that members of our campus may be experiencing in response to the situation in Iran and would like to emphasize that IVC has support services available to anyone who may be impacted.
IVC provides mental health services by licensed healthcare providers for any student needing to talk with someone. This is a confidential wellness resource.
A variety of health and wellbeing resources are also available to faculty and staff, including the Employee Assistance Program.
Please know that we stand united.
Sincerely,
John Hernandez, Ph.D.
IVC President
