Dawn Pickering Congratulations to Senior Administrative Assistant Dawn Pickering, who has been named IVC’s 2021 Classified Employee of the Year.

Dawn has held key classified positions at Irvine Valley College for the past 10 years. Her professionalism and skills have benefited the entire college community in her roles with the EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/Guardian Scholars department.  

In her role, she demonstrates what it’s like to be a Caring Campus and supports the mission of IVC by advocating for students and by helping to develop initiatives that help students realize their full potential. Dawn serves as an instrumental part of the team during the planning and organizing of department student events, including Adopt-A-Family, single parent luncheons, scholarship events, and recognition celebrations. She develops and nurtures relationships with campus stakeholders to ensure tall events are meticulously planned and that they result in team success.

Dawn exemplifies her leadership skills through excellent communication and follow-up with the foundation, vendors, IVC’s fiscal office, and community partners.

Director of EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs/Guardian Scholars Rosa Prado, says, “Dawn uses sound judgment and always strives toward the goal of helping students succeed. What I value most in Dawn, is her ability to put feedback into action and to anticipate the changing needs of our department. She completes her assignments with professionalism and with a positive demeanor. She goes over and above with every task, always puts on a smile, and is ready to face the next challenge. Dawn is an exemplary employee and a tremendous asset to EOPS and the campus, and her colleagues recognize that her hard work and commitment to IVC and students merits this award recognition.”

Dawn was presented with her award on May 20 by IVC President John Hernandez and Classified Senate President Desiree Ortiz. See Photos »
