Integrated Design, Engineering & Automation

Engineering

The Engineering Program allows students to prepare for university transfer while developing marketable engineering technical skills. The goal of the Engineering Program is to deliver an advanced engineering educational experience that is, in every way, equivalent to the first two years within a formal university environment.  The program provides an outstanding opportunity for students seeking to minimize their time to completion and dramatically decrease the cost of their undergraduate education.

Electronic Technology

The electronic technology certificate of achievement provides a solid foundation for immediate employment as an electronic technician, designing, testing and servicing telecommunication, medical, video, automotive, computer, aerospace, and entertainment equipment.

Completion of the associate in science degree provides even broader opportunities for personal, academic, and career growth.

Students may also transfer into the California state university system to complete a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology.

Electrical Technology

The Electrical Technology program provides for application of theory using hands-on learning environments. Transfer level mathematics will be employed. Irvine Valley College is a state-approved provider (Approved School Number 125) of Electrician Training under Assembly Bill 1087; this allows students to immediately apply for electrical trainee in California and receive the Electrician-in-Training Card.

Drafting

The IVC Drafting Program is designed to assist students in developing computer-aided design (CAD) skills for businesses involving manufacturing, construction, testing and design. Students receive advanced training on industry standard CAD programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, and Civil3D.  Additional instruction is provided covering basic terminology, object identification, and modern business practices.

Design Model Making and Rapid Prototyping

We can help you develop skills using that bring your hands, brain, and common sense together. DMP students work with the following environments: automotive design, product development, medical device design, 3D printing environments, toy design, movie and stage special effects and set design, prop making, manufacturing, and packaging design. We can explain the skills to get in with exciting companies.

Faculty and Staff Contact

The Irvine Valley College Department of Drafting Technology & Engineering prides itself on employing faculty members with university engineering degrees as well as practical private sector experience.  Our instructors have backgrounds in sensor design, high tolerance manufacturing, biomedical devices, civil engineering, electrical circuit design, and quality control.  We are dedicated to providing each student with the tools required to succeed in university programs and the technical workforce.

Industry Equipment

The Irvine Valley College Engineering Laboratory is an advanced learning space with a wide array of cutting-edge tools found in the fields of design, manufacturing, inspection, and quality control. Students enrolled in engineering and drafting classes gain direct access to materials and equipment which foster hands-on learning at all stages of the engineering design process.
