The Hub

The Hub aims to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth at Irvine Valley College, enhancing the educational experience for students by empowering faculty, classified professionals, and management through targeted professional learning.

Values: 
We as a community recognize all classified professionals, faculty, and managers as educators and value career-long learning, grounded in an understanding that supporting students in an evolving world requires continual professional growth by all constituents in the IVC community. 

Vision: 
To create a community of educators where continuous and inclusive professional learning is valued, accessible, and relevant with the goal of fostering student success and support. 

Mission: 
To streamline and support collaborative professional learning that equips our faculty, classified professionals, and managers with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to meet the evolving needs of IVC’s diverse student body inside and outside the classroom.

Guiding Principles

1. Students First: Focus all professional learning on the goal of supporting all students.
2. Inclusivity: Ensure professional learning opportunities address the varied needs of our faculty, classified professionals, and managers as educators. 
3. Relevance: Offer professional learning opportunities that equip faculty, classified professionals, and managers with the tools to support the evolving needs of students. 
4. Accessibility: Provide various learning formats, including online and in-person, to accommodate different learning styles and schedules.
5. Continuous Improvement: Implement regular and detailed mechanisms for feedback and assessment for continuous improvement of future learning opportunities.
6. Community Engagement: Encourage connections between and involvement within the college’s community, Saddleback, district organizations, and industry experts to expand professional learning opportunities.
7. IVC Expertise: Spotlight excellence in the IVC community.

Goals

1. Empower all constituencies in their support of students: Building upon the belief that all classified professionals, faculty, and managers are educators, we strive to provide accessible professional learning opportunities that empower these groups to support students, recognizing the need to provide tailored learning opportunities according to the similar and different needs of these groups. 
2. Encourage open-minded professional learning: In order to meet the evolving needs of our students, we must continue to grow as educators. This means we must reflect on current approaches to educating and supporting our students.
3. Provide student-centered learning opportunities: All learning opportunities provided by The Hub are designed to equip the IVC community to be student-centered educators. 
4. Collaborate for innovation and success: Professional learning opportunities will aim to showcase innovation, excellence, and expertise within the IVC community, and will look for opportunities to innovate through collaboration with external organizations and resources when necessary.
