Dr. Suzanne Wong holds the B.M. and M.M. degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California and the D.M.A from Boston University. She has studied piano with Nancy Bricard and James Bonn, violin with Alice Schoenfeld, and composition and theory with Dr. Robert Linn. Abroad, Ms. Wong has studied with pianist, Carlo Zecchi at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. She has also been on the faculty of the Colburn School of the Performing Arts.
For nine years, Ms. Wong was the Director of Advanced Curricula and the Junior Original Concert Program for the Yamaha Music Education System in the United States. In that role, she trained both teachers and students in the art of music composition and keyboard performance. Her students have appeared internationally as concert soloists, performing their own compositions. Ms. Wong has given many presentations on composition and performance in seminars sponsored by the Yamaha Corporation of America and the Music Teachers’ Association of California.
Currently, she is on the faculties of Fullerton, El Camino, and Irvine Valley Colleges where she teaches Piano, Music History, and Music Theory. She is also one of the early pioneers of distance education at Fullerton College. Ms. Wong earned the doctoral degree in Music Education with the dissertation titled, Let’s Play It By-Ear: Learning Piano in a College Setting with an Aural Emphasis. She was the pianist for the La Mirada Symphony and has appeared with the Symphony multiple times as concerto soloist. A frequent adjudicator, chamber musician, and accompanist, she also maintains a private teaching studio in Fullerton, California.
