COVID-19 Updates from the President

August 29, 2022

Dear Students:

Beginning Monday, August 29, 2022, face coverings/masks will no longer be required, but highly recommended. This applies to all indoor and outdoor settings at Irvine Valley College (IVC), Saddleback College (SC), ATEP, and our District Office. Masks will remain a requirement at our Student Health Centers.

July 26, 2022

Dear Students,

Thank you for your cooperation and support throughout the indoor mask mandate. Last night, the Board of Trustees voted to extend the indoor mask mandate indefinitely until county metrics improve.

Until further notice, all students are required to wear a mask indoors while on campus at Irvine Valley College, Saddleback College, and ATEP.

We sincerely appreciate your efforts in working to keep our campus community safe.

John Hernandez, PhD

President
Irvine Valley College

June 15, 2022

Dear Students,

As the number of COVID-19 cases have increased in our region, the South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) has announced that effective June 15, the indoor mask mandate will be temporarily re-instituted for Irvine Valley College, Saddleback College, and ATEP. The mandate will be in effect until July 15, unless it is extended beyond this date. As such, all students and staff must wear a face covering while indoors on any SOCCCD campus until the mandate is lifted.

April 19, 2022

Dear Students:

Please read this important update about summer and fall classes. As we have done throughout the pandemic, we continue to prioritize health and safety without sacrificing academic quality and access.

March 11, 2022

Dear Student:

As we approach spring break, we wanted to share with you that effective Monday, April 11, 2022, South Orange County Community College District will no longer require that you wear a mask indoors at Irvine Valley College (IVC), Saddleback College (SC) and ATEP. All other safety protocols remain in place, including vaccine requirements and testing for some student groups and those with approved exemptions for vaccination.

February 16, 2022

Dear Students:

Irvine Valley College (IVC) will be resuming in-person classes and services beginning February 23, 2022. At the start of the spring semester, IVC made the decision to delay the return of most in-person and hybrid courses due to the increasing spread of the Omicron variant in Orange County. Now, with COVID-19 numbers significantly improving in our region and throughout the state, we believe we can safely implement a full return to campus.

January 28, 2022

Dear Students:

As we continue to monitor the current wave of the Omicron variant in our community, Irvine Valley College has determined to delay a full return of Spring semester in-person/hybrid classes until Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Classes will continue to meet online until then. Please continue to communicate with your instructor regarding any class updates.

January 3, 2022

Dear IVC Student,

We hope you’ve enjoyed the holiday break and look forward to welcoming you this spring semester. Classes begin on January 18.

Please take note of recent changes to our class schedule due to the high transmission of the Omicron and Delta variants of COVID-19 in Orange County. Your safety is our top priority, and it is critical that we take measures to reduce the risk of exposure to our students, faculty, and staff.
