The Black Student Success Scholars (BSSS) program connects students from the African Diaspora to experience Black Excellence through a safe and welcoming environment. The program will bring an African-Centered education lens to support services, academic counseling, academic and cultural workshops, cultural enriching field trips, transfer planning, and HBCU tours.

Historically Black Colleges & Universities Tour
Spring Break, March 17 - 22, 2025
Explore the vibrant culture and historical significance of African American higher education on the annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour organized by IVC’s Black Student Success Scholars program. Students will be going on a six-day tour visiting six Historically Black Colleges and Universities and three museums. Flight, hotel, and food are paid for on the trip.*

*To qualify, students must be in good standing, a currently enrolled student, their college of record is from IVC, and complete an interview with the chaperones. 

Porch Talks

Join the Black Student Success Scholars in our monthly meetings! Porch Talks is a safe space for students from the African diaspora to build a sense of connectedness and learn to advocate for themselves while discussing important topics in the Black community.
