Congratulations to Director of Annual Giving Karen Orlando for being named IVC's 2026 Manager of the Year.
Karen was recognized for her outstanding leadership, campuswide impact, and unwavering commitment to student success. Known for her collaborative and people-centered approach, Karen is widely regarded as a trusted resource across campus. Colleagues regularly turn to her for guidance, whether navigating foundation fund requests, supporting scholarship applicants, or strengthening day-to-day operations. Her ability to lead with empathy while delivering results has made her an invaluable partner to faculty, staff, and fellow managers alike.
Karen played a key role in implementing and refining the district’s scholarship management system, advocating for a streamlined, user-friendly experience. She also remains directly engaged with students, leading scholarship workshops and helping remove barriers to access. Her dedication extends beyond operations. A longtime mentor in the Puente Program, Karen has supported students since its first cohort, building meaningful relationships that foster confidence and growth. Her mentorship has left a lasting impact, helping students envision and pursue opportunities beyond perceived limitations.
Within the Foundation, Karen is a steady and supportive presence—ensuring her team has the tools to succeed while cultivating a culture of collaboration and professional development. She has also strengthened connections with IVC retirees, keeping them engaged in the life of the college.
