Irvine Valley College (IVC) is proud to announce its selection as one of the top 100 community and technical colleges in the nation eligible to apply for a new U.S. Department of Education award program recognizing excellence. In total, IVC is among only 200 higher education institutions nationwide, including both two- and four-year colleges, invited to apply for the Department’s prestigious Postsecondary Success Recognition program

The selection reflects IVC’s commitment to advancing equity and providing transformative educational opportunities that empower all students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. The college has made significant strides in improving student outcomes, particularly by ensuring equitable access for underrepresented populations. Through comprehensive support services and strong engagement with local communities and employers, IVC is dedicated to furthering student success.

The Postsecondary Success Recognition program is a key component of the Department’s Raise the Bar initiative, which aims to increase postsecondary completion rates, close achievement gaps, and ensure students graduate with valuable credentials that lead to fulfilling careers. This recognition emphasizes how well institutions prepare students for meaningful futures rather than focusing on exclusivity.

“IVC is deeply honored to be considered for this national recognition by the U.S. Department of Education. This acknowledgment reflects IVC’s unwavering commitment to student success and equity. Through innovative programs, equitable access, and strong community and employer partnerships, we are empowering our students to thrive academically and professionally. Our focus on data-driven strategies and continuous improvement is ensuring that we are meeting the diverse needs of our students, preparing them for success in the workforce and beyond,” said IVC President Dr. John Hernandez.

Winners of the Postsecondary Success Recognition award will be announced by the Department of Education in early 2025.
